Re: Dallas Diocese posting all churches .3006 and .3007 !!
They should've adopted this: https://www.dioceseoftyler.org/news/201 ... carry-law/
Bishop Strickland, Tyler, understands Catholicism with regards to self defense: "I respect and support the right that we have as Texans to defend ourselves and our families. As Catholics, we believe the legitimate defense of persons can be not only a right, but also a grave duty."
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/a ... s2c2a5.htm
2265 Legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for one who is responsible for the lives of others. The defense of the common good requires that an unjust aggressor be rendered unable to cause harm. For this reason, those who legitimately hold authority also have the right to use arms to repel aggressors against the civil community entrusted to their responsibility.

Re: Dallas Diocese posting all churches .3006 and .3007 !!
I'd like to know the specifics of what this is supposed to mean....and does the DD intend to instill whatever proactive plan at all the churches. Armed guards? What? What about smaller rural churches?
"The key is to be proactive and plan for it ahead of time and train for it ahead of time, so in the unlikely event something does happen, you're ready and prepared to deal with that situation," Smith said.

this is the response I got from DD

Faith leaders have to adopt a new kind of planning beyond traditional preparations for fire or weather, according to John Smith, risk management director with the Catholic Diocese of Dallas.

I message Dallas through Facebook and got immediate response and exchange. They nothing to say after I sent the Lubbock newdC-dub wrote:My church has posted both 30.06 and 30.07 a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. For now I've gone to mass unarmed. I thinking about writing to the Bishop urging him to reconsider. This is very disappointing.

LUBBOCK, TX
An arrest warrant made public on Monday morning described the events leading up to a deadly shooting Sunday evening outside St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, 2316 Broadway Street.
Pete Garcia Jr., 55, was arrested in Levelland in the hours after the shooting when he turned himself in.
The warrant said Garcia and Judy Ann Garcia were married for 32 years and their divorce was finalized in October.
Judy Garcia started dating the shooting victim, Orestes “West” Garza, after the divorce. Judy Garcia told Lubbock Police that within the last two weeks Pete Garcia left her messages that he purchased a firearm and he was “going to fix the problem.”
Judy Garcia told police that she in fact reported these messages to LPD when they happened and she reported that Pete Garcia was seen driving near her home several times. According to the warrant, she was told there would be an investigation but “nothing more could be done.”
After mass at St. Elizabeth’s, Judy Garcia got into a vehicle and waited for Garza. But then she saw Garza was running, and Pete Garcia was chasing him with a gun in his hands.
The arrest warrant said, “She observed the gun pointed at the victim’s back and then heard (4) four gunshots.”
Garza collapsed, and Pete Garcia ran away, according to the warrant.
Garza was taken to University Medical Center and was pronounced dead a short time later.
The warrant said Pete Garcia admitted to a friend that he shot Garza. Garcia threw the gun in a field south of Sundown. He also admitted the shooting to his son, according to the warrant.
Garcia was held Monday morning in the Hockley County Law Enforcement Center on a $1,000,000 bond. There was no immediate word on when he would be transferred to Lubbock.

Notice the Fort Worth diocesan policy refers to diocesan property...which means all churches, schools, parish halls, etc.
