mailed in paperwork on march 18th. today is may 17th. my wife got her license in the mail today. they are still working on my background check. what the heck !!!! is anyone else seeing wifes getting licenses before husbands? I was born in Canada, so im wondering if they are waiting on Canada to send them something. anyone else born out of the country seeing delays in processing?

my patience is almost gone, but cant do anything about it. emailed them yesterday but no reply. sigh ........

It's not just you. I think it depends on whose desk your app is placed on for the background review. My mother and I took our class together, but I had to wait an extra week for the next paycheck before I could do my online application. So my mom got hers mailed a week before me. However, we were both updated as "received" on the same day. My background check only took 5 days, but hers has taken about 2 weeks. Ours both went to Background Review on Monday 5/6. Mine changed to "Manufacturing Pending" on Saturday 5/11. My mom's finally changed to "Manufacturing Pending" today, 5/17 (well, technically that was yesterday, since it's after midnight now).

I've seen postings of others waiting as much as 30 days for their background check to be done. So I think it's just luck of the draw.

Whoever processed my app was on the ball! Only sat in background check for 5 days. My mom sent her app in a week before me, got updated as "received" on the same day as mine though, and is STILL waiting on background (clean record).

Mine shows as mailed today. Hope it doesn't sit in a "to be mailed" pile for too long.

I have to think that it all depends on which pile your packet was placed in when it arrived. My mom and I took our CHL class together, but I had to wait an extra week before I could do my online app and schedule my fingerprints (was waiting on paycheck before doing online app). So my mom mailed her application one week before I did. That said, ours both changed to "received" on the same day. Neither of us have any background to speak of, yet mine has already gone to manufacturing, while my mom's is still in background review.

54 days from the date I mailed the packet
51 days from the date DPS received and signed for my application.... and counting!

I can't wait to be able to legally carry, but then I struggle with the "am I ready to carry" thoughts.
