Nice! I may get a suppressor once this rifle is built but I will prolly wait to SBR for another build. The Annoyed Man wrote:Well I just got back from paying for and starting the paperwork on a AAC 762-SDN-6. I decided in the end to just pony up for factory-made and wait the extra months for the stamp.

$3k+ in ATF stamps and ya couldn't even iron the sheet before taking the picture?!...lolCleverNickname wrote:Yeah, they tend to multiply.PBratton wrote:'FORCE"???Carry-a-Kimber wrote:I'm of the opinion that but would be legal to do but I don't think you would save any money. Once you have a suppressor you will want all of your guns suppressed. Permanently attaching a can to a rifle would force you to buy another one.

And I've gotten a couple more since the picture was taken.

Re: Question for those with NFA expertise...lol
I was thinking more of the screw on suppressor but an integrally suppressed 9mm gave me the insppiriation...lol. It was a product shot on the foreend I purchased...The Annoyed Man wrote:No, barrel and can length are considered separate. For instance, consider barrels with integral suppressors.RogueUSMC wrote:I see that but if you have a 14.5" barrel and pin 1.5" of muzzle brake on it, it is not an SBR. Can you do the same with a can in lieu of the brake? and only pay the suppressor stamp?

Re: Question for those with NFA expertise...lol
why?...lol...$200
I am about $600 into an $800 build. If I go suppressed SBR, that adds $400 on top of the cost of the suppressor. Each stamp is more than I have spent on any one component of this rifle. I have been buying a part here and a part there as I have a little spare change. $400 is alot of spare change...lol

Yeah, if I went SBR, blackout would be my choice in regards to ballistics, but I can't remember the last time I saw blackout on the shelf. I will probably just go 16" 5.56 for this one.

Re: Question for those with NFA expertise...lol
Just toying with the idea. I have the parts for my build to the barrel nut. Now is when the decisions as to barrel, muzzle device and gas system length are being made...lol. The 15" foreend will go around a can. So if I were to go shorter on the barrel and intergrate a suppressor in the 16" total length range, it sounds like an idea but that would be $400 in stamps over and above the cost of the components. If I made the union permanent, I might be able to lose one of the $200 stamps...lol

Re: Question for those with NFA expertise...lol
So far, I have gotten opinions (that need to be verified...lol) that as long as the suppressor is pinned and welded to the barrel, it satisfies the 16" rule but you still are on tap for the suppressor stamp.

Re: Question for those with NFA expertise...lol
But if a muzzle brake is pinned it counts as part of the barrel for NFA purposes??

Question for those with NFA expertise...lol
If I build a rifle with a 10.5" barrel but I pin 6" worth of suppressor on it, will it still require the SBR stamp as well as the suppressor stamp? Or will the pinned suppressor extend the barrel length for NFA purposes?
