Re: Getting discouraged

Can you rephrase that please. I don't understand what you just wrote. "can you point to where you're getting what you're talking about?"
Second, I don't believe the NRA or TSRA are either doing their job as far as grading reps, or they are in bed with them to give them A ratings. So are you are stating you know that the NRA and TSRA know that Strauss and Pickett are most likely intentionally not putting bills up for final vote, because they don't want them to pass? It seems obvious with so many bills that basically die of slow death, because not being put up for votes. So you are saying, you think they know, and still gave them great ratings? That's my question I guess. My point was, to get people to get NRA and TSRA to take a review of the rating these guys have. With bad ratings, from the NRA and TSRA, who knows, maybe the voters will wake up, and at minimum, maybe the Speaker position will change.

If they lose the NRA ranking, and other rankings, maybe they won't be in office anyways, because they will get voted out next time around by the population.
Oh boy.

Pay close attention to posts by Charles, lie the one stickied at the top and the calls to action. Rep's can't just make committees hear, vote or move on their bills.
Are Strauss and Pickett not representatives? I've read Mr Cottens post. I agree with it. But I'm pretty sure, from his other post, that when groups of reps don't want a bill put forth, and they go chat with Strauss, Pickett etc. (IE when he stated that HB700 was dead because there were mean letters and calls) Then it doesn't get to the floor. Clear me up on this please. Thanks

If your legislator voted for Straus as speaker in 2011, and you voted for him/her in 2012, and he/she voted for Straus as speaker again in 2013, then you're part of the problem.
Since Straus was elected by affirmation and not a recorded vote, how exactly would you know that?
I know that in 2011, there was a "Gang of Eight" that opposed Strauss for Speaker. My rep at the time was Van Taylor, and he was one of the eight. I believe Ken Paxton was the one running against Strauss for Speaker. Unfortunately, in 2013, they decided not to oppose him since it was a lost cause. Still, if youdo your research, you can find out which reps has spoken out against Strauss in the past, even if there wasn't a recorded vote.
Wonder if we could do a forum petition, and send it to Ken Paxton, to run next time again. Showing this time we understand what a big deal it really is. Maybe send copies of it to everyone in the gang of 8 and ask for it to be spread throughout the ranks. Maybe get the pro lifers on board as well with the same petition. I gotta believe, there is somehow to let the reps know, Strauss needs to go as well as others. If they know we are paying attention, maybe it will prove to work? JMHO
