For the shower, I have one on the counter, only a step away. While poppo makes good points about hardening entrances, I think he's fooling himself if he thinks his home is invulnerable to quick and sudden entrance. He seems thoroughly convinced though, so I'm not going to spend time on the subject. I hope his argument is never tested.

I know personally the kind of long-lasting trauma and turmoil a family goes through when a loved one is violently taken away by criminals, and I vow never to let that happen to my family again if I have any say in the matter. This is the reason I carry, and the reason I am armed at all places it is possible, including my own home. I also hope my resolve is never tested, but I will not hesitate to preserve my life and those of my loved ones if the need were ever to arise.
