Re: 45 acp brass with small primer pockets
CCI/Blazer does SPP .45, as well as some varieties of Winchester, namely the NT (non-toxic) stuff.

Re: Want to learn more about AR rifles.
That's the truth. I built a 5.56 AR a little under 2 years ago from RRA parts. I now have its .458 SOCOM big brother in progress, which should be complete in January.DentonTactical wrote: Be warned, it is virtually impossible to own just one AR - they tend to multiply when put in gun safes.

There's a kit for that as well:cyphur wrote: Thumlers makes a 40# model you could probably use to spec one out.

Runs about $800, though.

Re: steel for brass tumbling
A company called Stainless Tumbling Media sells the whole shebang: http://www.stainlesstumblingmedia.com/stm-complete-package.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I absolutely love mine. I loaned out my old vibratory tumbler to a friend new to reloading, with the understandi...

Re: LED lights for reloading press
That's pretty neat stuff. I'll have to take some measurements of my Lee Challenger press to see if one of the kits will fit..

Re: What will you load next?
Here's my first test batch of "plinkers", using Berry's 350 grain RS. Wow, those look great. And Vihtavuori, my favorite powder. I might just have to get some 458 socom stuff. The rifle is optional, I just want to make those bullets. They are definitely an impressive round. Ther...

Re: What will you load next?
Well, got a few test loads worked up for the .458 SOCOM. Just waiting on backordered parts so I can have by builder do the barrel and custom work so I can shoot them. :waiting: Here's my first test batch of "plinkers", using Berry's 350 grain RS. http://john-boy.net/images/reload-pics/458-...

I have the same kind of setup, with the PowerPak installed:
The Knoxx stock is totally worth it. Makes magnum slugs feel like heavy birdshot. Also eliminates muzzle rise completely.

Re: Get into longer range shooting..
Attend an Appleseed. It will change your world with how accurate you can be, even with iron sights. I got to shoot at longer ranges with my AR for the first time about 6 weeks ago. I was shooting a 10" steel target at 330y, to test out some handloads I'd developed. Rang it every single shot. I ...

I'll be developing several .458 SOCOM test loads while my builder makes me a barrel and several other items for my new upper.

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
I sure hope this is on the agenda this session. It burns my hide every time I walk past Austin City Hall and see the 30.06 and the metal detectors at both entrances. They should not be allowed to do this. Those signs are enforceable only when the council is in session (the meeting of a governmental...

Re: State aquarium and USS Lexington Corpus carry allowed?
I haven't been to the aquarium in a few years, but last I was there, it was not posted. It is not listed in Texas3006.com, and I would think that would be the kind of place someone would put a listing for if it were posted. That's not a difinitive answer, of course, but it's a good indication. IIRC ...

This is actually how both Speer and Hornady started out in the ammunition business - swaging spent .22LR cases into jackets for rifle bullets.

Re: 30.06 sign at Ikea in Round Rock
I don't know why it seems that the Round Rock store is the only one that is properly posted. If that's the case, pressure in the correct places may be able to get the decision to post reversed. If regional management gets wind that they are losing customers and their brand is being tarnished by the ...

Re: 30.06 sign at Ikea in Round Rock
Sorry to resurrect a month-old thread. I hadn't been to Ikea since sometime last year, and apparently missed this thread. Walking up to the door today, was greeted with this: http://john-boy.net/images/ikea-30.06-scaled800.jpg Today will be the last time I will darken the doors of Ikea, until such t...
