Re: On line classes have started
I'm a online course provider and I have also been teaching LTC classes in person for 9 years now. I own a range and training center here in Wichita Falls, TX. We still teach in person LTC classes along with instructor classes and all the others. We have a State prison here so I have been having all...

Re: Electronic Signature LTC-100
I have used a scanned image of my signature on all -8's and -100's since I started printing them "real time" several years back.

Re: NRA Cert. Renewal
The CHL-90 option to use your NRA credentials says: "I am currently certified by the National Rifle Association (NRA) as a handgun instructor."
You'll have to renew your NRA certification to be current when you re-certify your LTC Instructor Certification every two years.

Re: Trouble submitting CHL-8
I submitted one yesterday, didn't seem to have a problem. Wish I had something to offer, but it seems like you've tried just about everything. Good luck. Let us know if you discover anything.

Re: Finally I am offered the CHL Instructor's Class
How are we going to "fix" the malfunction if there is not extra found or extra magazine within the allowed time period? Luckily, for most of us there war no malfunctions. The reasoning is to have you complete the course of fire as much as possible. If, for instance, you have a misfire on ...

Re: GC 411.171 (3) - definition of concealed handgun repealed
30.06 still bans a "concealed handgun". SB11, Campus Carry, likewise uses the term. My understanding is that the handgun must be concealed in those places that do not prohibit guns, but disallow open carry. Lacking a statutorily defined definition, do we just go with "concealed means ...

I know just what you mean. "30.06... 30.07... 30.07... sold to American!" (For those of us superannuated enough to remember that!)Crossfire wrote:And I feel like I am talking like an auctioneer!

Re: LTC Course Hours Discrepancy?
The DPS Course Outline time allotments are approximations. For instance, Module 1 states "Time Allotted: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours". What is important is that all the listed topics, at a minimum, are adequately covered. My classroom time seems to be running in the neighbor...

Re: NRA Class Reporting
I agree that divulging information about CHL students to a third party (anyone other than DPS or someone bearing a warrant) is prohibited. Therefore, on the NRA site, I register each student with same name: "CHL STUDENT". I provide my location and email address. I select the correct gender...

Re: New LTC Exam - Question 2
I think if you plug in either statute, or both, the answer remains the same.
That said, in my experience, it is the most poorly worded (and most missed) question on the test.

Re: CHL Instructor 30.06/07 Signage
I've written to them as well, but since the statutes don't address the Spanish translation they themselves mandate, nor do they delegate the responsibility for translating the required verbiage to DPS (or anyone else, for that matter), I suspect our requests for specificity may find their way to tha...

I got it, too. From the email: "The new blended NRA Basic Pistol course will be available to the public in the first quarter of 2016. This means a portion of the course is conducted online in an e-learning environment that can be completed on the students' own time." "The lesson plan ...
