So my original fingerprints were rejected......
after applying for a renewal of my CHL online. I received a letter from DPS instructing me on who to contact to get digital prints made. I set up an appointment and was fingerprinted sucessfully. Then the person doing the fingerprinting gave me a signed document and instructed me to mail it in to th...

Online renewal receipt was processed on 7/29/13.
Fingerprints and Background Check still pending.
So much for the decrease in waiting times.

Re: Is there a comfortable way to carry?
The Crossbreed Super Tuck, or any of the Crossbreed holsters are very comfortable, and not too expensive either. I think around 60.00. Plus they (at least they used to) have relatively short turnaround times. Ordering a holster from Milt Sparks is (another) test of your patience. Three or four month...

Re: Cant carry at the gocery store
In Texas, where employers seem to have the right to do just about anything they wish to their employees, the best policy seems to be strict privacy. Someone would have to be trustworhty in the extreme in order for them to know whether I even OWN firearms or not. I'm not saying this is the way things...

Renewals taking longer than new CHL's?
Sent my renewal packet in on 8/2/08. DPS says they received it on 8/4/08. Still no plastic. They tell me, and have told me for the last 4 or 5 weeks, that I'm still undergoing a background check. This is for a RENEWAL. Any other renewal experiences? By the way, I'm Dallas County.

Am I the only one here who believes this CHL holder would have gone to jail if he had shot the guy?

Re: New CHL Design
I may be wrong, but I believe that's the way the state of Missouri does it.Why not just have CHL coded on the driver's license?

How Often Do You Carry?
That might sound like a silly question, but many of us don't want to take a chance on losing our jobs by defying our employers rules regarding concealed carry. Naturally that leaves us with some choices to make. I typically have a firearm handy in my car, which usually goes into a pocket before I go...

Re: Had my first encounter with LEO
I've been stopped four times since I got my CHL (in 2004). Two of those times I got (and deserved) a ticket. Each encounter was a non event because I treated the officers with courtesy and respect and I was given the same. I know there are exceptions to everything, but all of my experiences have bee...

It may be hard to believe, but one of these days you won't even think about it (carrying).

So they were pleased with the teacher's "response" which I assume was to die in an orderly and non-panicked fashion. Amazing that they think of this as a response at all.

Background Check on Renewals?
I just called to check my renewal status and was told that the background check by the F.B.I. was still being run. Do they do the complete background check on renewals too?

Renewal wait the same as first time CHL?
I took my renewal class on 8/2 and mailed it the same day. Status has been "Processing Application" for a little over a week now. Are renewals taking the same amount of time as an initial app?

Re: Proper etiquette
Best advice yet: I would answer, be exactly as you should always be - courteous and compliant. Be sure to show your CHL to an officer when asked for ID, even if you're not carrying. The law doesn't require that, but that little bit of courtesy can go a long way toward defusing the situation. I have ...

Re: Is there a comfortable way to carry?
If I'm going somewhere that I have to dress up, I carry a Kahr PM9 in a DeSantis Nemesis holster in my pocket and a spare mag in my back pocket. It's pretty comfortable.....and comforting too.
