Again,
A huge shout out to Mr. Cotton, NRA, TSRA and all those positive 2A gun groups who worked within the confines of the rules.
I was one that thought both bills were going to die off. I was wrong! And boy am I willing to admit it!

WOW. The new Baylor stadium didn't cost that much.NorthTexas wrote:Yes, early in the session I believe several universities came up with "estimates" of the financial impact of allowing campus carry. Some were in the hundreds of millions of dollars per year. Total bull.safety1 wrote:39 million dollars my foot. That number would fall under the category of abuse.

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
Mr. Cotton, can you clarify this please.Jumping Frog wrote:Right now, before SB11, I can carry on any college premises, meaning parking lots and grounds, of every "institution of higher learning". I am only forbidden to carry within a building.
The conference report linked above (unless I misread it) now give the college the authority to create rules that forbid me from carrying on the parking lot and grounds in return for a theoretical right to carry in buildings only on campuses that decide to allow me that privilege.
Unless I am mistaken, this is a major step backwards, not forwards.

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
Thanks for clarifying for me. It was the wrong date. I just looked at the committee report and its stating 9/1/15. I wonder if they edited it?RHenriksen wrote:You're confusing campus carry (whose still-pending bill has been amended to a 9/1/16 start) with open carry (which was amended to a 1/1/16 start).cprems wrote:What a roller coaster ride this has been. What is next for this bill? Does it have to have concurrence in both houses?

We all owe a debt of gratitude to all those who fought the hard fight to get this passed. Thanks to the members of this board, Mr. Cotton and all those lobbying in favor of this bill.

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
IMO, the amendment wouldn't hinder LEO. I have nothing but utmost respect for our LEO's. If they wanted to stop you and ask for ID, they're smart enough to find a way to do it.
It was nothing but a platform the anti-gun lobbyists used to bludgeon the underlying bill. Nothing more.I believe that most big city Chiefs are appointed, while Sheriffs are voted in. IMO, the former are politicians and are usually imported in from States where guns are bad...
