Re: AK47 style underfold advice Romanian vs. Yugoslavian

I have several Romanian AK's--the Underfolders are just WASR's with terrible folding stocks. Underfolder and Side Folders are window dressing---they are not functional and often are crap. I guess if you wanted it for historical value it is OK--but as far as shooting the gun--forget about it.

It is said the Russian Airborne despised them, they made the gun completely unable to control on full auto and accuracy suffered because of the Length of Pull--they often installed fixed stocks once on the ground for good reason.

+ Romy's are hit and miss as far as quality--the CUGIR factory in Romania is now making car parts--so if you want a Romanian for what it is worth, buy them now. Yugo undefolders are scarce also--I bought several when Century had a bunch a while back and you can still find one here and there often way overpriced. They were a step up from Romanian--with a decent receiver. If you did not alreasy know, Most of what is on the market today is "Frankensteins" pieced together with several different parts and dressed up with Tapco handguards.

As far as import AK's go right now--one would be smart to buy, buy, buy. With the Cugir factory gone, American Companies will start making them in mass and the good ole days of $300-$400 AK's are gone forever. They will charge $600-800 and Americans will pay it.

I recently bought a few Fixed Stock Saiga Hi-Cap AK's, a Polish Tantal AK-74's (5.45x39) and a few AK-103 and 105's--- IMO the best AK's out there right now. Vector Arms makes a excellent AK also--all Bulgarian parts.

If anybody is interested I have a few I want to unload for the right price. :evil2:

Stay Safe.
