Re: Alcohol & your CHL

To try and get past what seems to be some confusion, .08 BAC is only the hard line that makes you automatically "intoxicated" by law. You do not have to have a BAC of .08 to be arrested for DWI or carrying intoxicated if the arresting officer deems you to be intoxicated by the following language:
Sec. 49.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
(2) "Intoxicated" means:
(A) not having the normal use of mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol, a controlled substance, a drug, a dangerous drug, a combination of two or more of those substances, or any other substance into the body; or
(B) having an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.
Emphasis added.

Re: Alcohol & your CHL

If I am carrying and I am going out to eat, I will not drink at all. If I am at home, I may have one beer with dinner or a glass of scotch after dinner (never both). Personal preference, but I don't want to ever risk being deemed "impaired" if something were to happen.

I have thought about getting a gun vault/safe that can be bolted to the floor of my truck in the back opposite the drivers seat for those times I want to go have a drink and already have my gun on me or in my car. That way it is locked and not within reach.

But I am a very risk averse person (being an accountant and auditor). :coolgleamA:
