Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks
He says "we don't have all the facts yet" but still has no problem recommending a policy change.

Re: What would YOU do?
Head towards the exit. If I have an open shot at the active shooter then I will take it. Otherwise, I'm leaving. I carry a gun to protect myself and my family, not to be John Wayne. The unarmed customers in the Walmart have made a conscious choice to outsource their personal safety to the police dep...

Re: Speaker Bonnen's betrayal of Texas gun-owners
For those that have contacted your representatives, have you heard anything back? I haven't gotten a response to my message. I also noticed that the usual rabid gun folks like Stickland have been completely silent on the issue.

Re: Texas State Fair
I carried today at the State Fair and had a similar experience to many that already posted (except the officer I dealt with was fairly rude and unfriendly). Here's my question...why did they also want to see my DL after I showed my CHL? Is this just some meaningless security measure that they do to ...

Re: Questions for OCT
As I've said numerous times, I'm far more concerned about who can carry and where we can carry than with how we can carry. If we don't remove off-limits areas, prohibit the posting of unenforceable 30.06 signs on government property, pass campus-carry, exempt church volunteer "security" p...

Re: Woman Beheaded in Oklahoma
Michele Bachmann stated today at the Value Voters Summit that Obama was wrong when he said ISIS was not about Islam but about terrorist extremist, she said it was about Islam. Her state apparently has a lot of Islams and synagogues. I think America is in big trouble as long as we are politically co...

Re: Switch Blade Knives
Sections 1242 and 1243 of the Act shall not apply to: (e) any common carrier or contract carrier, with respect to any switchblade knife shipped, transported, or delivered for shipment in interstate commerce in the ordinary course of business; Here is where the ambiguity comes in. Several interpreta...

Re: Another special session?
I can't think of a single person I ever met who he would alienate by adding campus carry, that he didn't already alienate by adding abortion to the first call. When he doubled down on abortion, and didn't add gun rights (at no additional political cost to him) he was crystal clear where he stands o...

Re: Another special session?
Strange that I haven't gotten any e-mails from the NRA asking to contact Perry about gun issues. When he called the first session, they immediately send one out.

Re: Another special session?
Perry is all talk. Exactly. I think this entire abortion bill is just political theater. The whole purpose is for Perry to get some national news to polish his conservative credentials with the anti-abortion crowd. I'll be more than happy to say I was wrong if he calls a 2nd session, but I don't th...

Re: Letter to Governor Rick Perry
We had a lockdown on my campus this morning because local police got a tip that someone with a gun was heading to the campus (the threat didn't materialize as he was apprehended before getting here). Over 30K students/faculty/staff, but none are allowed to protect themselves. Unbelievable. I can't w...

Re: Letter to Governor Rick Perry
Here are the simple facts. Since at least 2007, Gov. Perry has been proudly and loudly proclaiming that Texas CHL's should be able to carry their guns everywhere. Yet he did not add this or campus carry, or HB508 to the call. Lt. Gov. Dewhurst stated during the TSRA Annual Meeting (so I'm told, I w...

Yes. My friends always said Perry was all talk, but I always defended him.tbrown wrote:I don't know why anybody is surprised. He has a history of talking big but folding when the chips are down.
