Re: Bill to eliminate Texas reciprocity
If the professional license validity is independent of the licensee's state of residence, then holding them up as an example argues that the same independence should exist for CHL reciprocity.

Re: Bill to eliminate Texas reciprocity
I am convinced this is exactly that. An assault on reciprocity. The antis dont like shall issue reforms and they hate reciprocity.Skiprr wrote: If something like SB 481 passes, all the good work for reciprocity achieved by the Governor and his Attorneys General will be undone. Almost every single reciprocity agreement will have to be rewritten, reissued and then, hopefully, the reduced commitment accepted by the governor of the reciprocal state.
I'll end this by saying, for this particular discussion, it would be informative for the readers to know who among the commentators make some/most of their income from teaching Texas CHL courses.
I do not.
This is nothing more than the first step to undermine reciprocity in Texas. Like always they couch their hatred of gun rights as "reasonable restrictions" because that rhetoric fools the masses.

Re: Bill to eliminate Texas reciprocity
Someone with a valid drivers license from another state can walk into a Texas DPS office and walk out with a temporary Texas license, with the plastic mailed within a few weeks, all for much less than $50 out of pocket.
Unless this bill provides an equally easy and inexpensive path to a Texas CHL for someone licensed in another state, the people using a driver license as an example are being disingenuous at best.

Re: Bill to eliminate Texas reciprocity
I am more worried about some yankee carrying in Texas with a FL nonresident license than I am about some Texan carrying in Texas with a FL license.
And
I'm far more worried about NYPD or LAPD carrying in Texas under LEOSA than I am about ANYBODY with a FL license.
