Not really -- many times using a knife surrepticously, which isn't implied by "pull a knife", is the best method. One of the most difficult positions to "take away" a knife is the "reverse hold, lying along the forearm, blade out" method. The knife is largely hidden, and it is also quite a bit harder to cut your self (though not impossible) when using this method.
You only use it or show it once you are UNDER ATTACK -- at which point I am in fear of my life and getting cut with my own knife is the least of my worries.
