If I can interrupt y'alls lively discussion to ask one question, how is this (Dick's asking the citizen question) stopping an illegal from buying ammo? All they have to do is lie! There is no federal penalty like the form you fill out to buy a gun by hitting a yes or no button on a store machine. Just like giving a made up phone number when asked by a Northern Tool cashier. I would have pressed the one saying I WAS an illegal alien and seen what happened, especially if I wasn't planning on purchasing after that anyway. Academy ask for zip code and Northern Tool ask for your phone number, both can be "by-passed" or can be made up and the purchase will still go through. I'm pretty sure the Dick's policy could have been by-passed too, but I will never know because I don't shop there and unless they giving away there stuff for free, I never will. Not because of this policy, but because they are over priced, poor selection, anti-gun and not helpful IF you can find someone to ask. I'm not going to tell anyone to shop there or not, that's your choice.
