Haha. Im sure Ill be hearing about this for the rest of my life. They are already talking about buying me a blender even though I already own one.WildBill wrote:I checked with my attorney and he said that you can attach a notarized statement, laminated to the back of your CHL, stating that "In the event that I croak out in public, I leave my gun to WildBill".Oldgringo wrote:No, but I sometimes wonder who'll get my gun if I croak out in public?

Re: Nearly chocked to death
3 of my family members that were there are nurses but my uncle is a maintenance man like me. My other uncle said after that 3rd time if I didn't cough it up he was going to put my n the floor and give me a tracheotomy. Glad it didn't have to come to that. I carry a knife but no way could I have done it to myself, by the time I realized I was choking to death I was passing out and soon after did.rotor wrote:As someone said, do the Heimlich on a chair if you can. Also always carry a pocket knife. If need be you stab yourself in the cricothyroid membrane and jam the plastic of a ball point pen in to keep it open.

for the anatomy.
Can you do it? Yes or be prepared to die. Just below "adam's apple".
Had the steak thing happen to me once too, was by myself and was ready to do it when I brought the steak up. Will never forget the horror of the whole thing but was ready with the knife.
Glad you are well. Glad someone didn't have to pocket knife you. I could do it to anyone without thinking twice if need be.

Re: Nearly chocked to death
I see what you did there. Yeah, its not something I want to go through again, people say they see the light near death, I didn't see anything. Maybe I wasn't that close to death but I don't want to be any closer. The Annoyed Man wrote:Sounds like a nightmare....![]()

Re: Nearly chocked to death
Thanks. Scared the heck out of me. Last thing I remember was standing up by that time the black curtain was coming down. I turned around cause I knew what needed to happen then I was out. They tells it took 3 times picking me up off the floor till it spit it out. Next thing I remember was being bent over at the waist and looking at a piece of steak on the floor.
Problem was I waited to long to let people know I was choking cause I didn't want to cause a scene. By the time I panicked I was passing out.

Nearly chocked to death
I was at a family g2g at Golden Corral for a family members 80th bday. I had gotten a piece of steak and took a bite. It was tough as nails and I chewed it for a good 30secs. It then slipped down my throat, I didn't want to cause a scene so I tried to cough it up, no go. I then tried to reach it with my fingers. By this time I could not breath at all and panic set in. I stood up and put my hand on my throat, I was starting to pass out. My uncle runs around and give me the heimlich and after the 3rd time I cough it up.
I didn't eat anymore after that. My uncle and I work for the same company and we just went through a 3hr first aid course Tuesday and covered the heimlich. Thank God he was there. If I had been alone I doubt I could have cough it up on my own.
Anyone else ever nearly chocked to death or saved someone who was?
Edit: while he was giving my the heimlich the one thing on my mind was I hope my gun isn't exposed. Dead serious cause I was bent over blowing snot everywhere and worried about my firearm.
