This is a great thread as I'm in the same boat. My wife has no interest in guns whatsoever, but I think it is really important for her to be familiar with and know how to use the guns we have in our house.

She has shot my Glocks before, but has always had trouble racking the slide on a semi-auto. I think, for her, a revolver is the best route. I want to get her one, but I want HER to pick it out. Trouble is...she's not interested in going to look.
