Yeah, I try to go atleast once a month. It gets hard with all of my hobbies though.steve817 wrote:maxx2893 wrote:

Another good place for skeet shooting. I'm in Arlington about seven miles from it.

Re: New Guy in DFW
We don't rally do any of the Texas races. We used to, to get experience, but now we mainly only do the BITD series. We might do a Texas race this year thoughequin wrote:That's awesome. At one point in time a number of years ago, a guy named Rich and I hosted a group of like-minded desert racing enthusiasts from the DFW area at the Pappas BBQ in Dallas to see if we could organize some kind of Texas-based racing. After researching the insurance liability costs and requirements, it kind of fell by the wayside. But a few years after that Texas began hosting some races out West. Do y'all ever do any Texas races? If so, and if you ever need any make-shift pit-stop booger welds, let me know - lol.maxx2893 wrote:Team name is Lunn Motorports, and we race truck TT53 in the Trophy Truck class (actually Trick Truck, because SCORE owns the rights to the term Trophy Truck, but same thing).equin wrote:Never met Robby Gordon, but I heard the same thing from another desert racing fan who has - lol.maxx2893 wrote:That's awesome! I'd love to meet Ivan. I've had the displeasure of talking with Robby Gordon a few times. I don't even wanna get in to that. There would be a few expletives. All I'll say is he is a real jerk, and that doesn't even touch the surface of him. Have also spoke with BJ Baldwin, he was pretty nice.equin wrote:Welcome from a fellow DFW gun hobbyist, off-roader and off-road/desert-racing fan! Dust to Glory is one of my favorite movie documentaries. Also had the distinction of meeting Ivan Stewart in person when he came to the Toyota Trail Riders Jamboree at TMTC's OHV park in Gilmer a few years back.
Also, thanks for the welcome!
Anyway, can't believe I forgot to ask your racing team's name and class y'all race in. I became a fan when I lived in the Imperial Valley for a few years in the mid-90's, and would see the San Felipe 250 racers at the Calexico/Mexicali Port of Entry, not to mention all the prerunners and decked-out race-suspension vehicles practicing and having fun at Glamis.

Thanks! I'm up in NRH pretty often, visiting the R&R guys. I'll talk to the owner and see if he wants to open up another credit line.thelurker wrote:Welcome to the forum! Nice, I've seen some pretty sweet modified Raptor's. I'm up at Rock & Roll Offroad pretty often, up on 820.RX8er wrote:I think he's going to that run. His name is Mike and I know that he stays active in the off-roading community. I'll ask him what is screen name is and pass along. Been trying to get him to come over here as well. I think he's going to after his next meet.

Where about in FTW are you? I'm at 377 & North Tarrant.
Is he on Ford Raptor Forum? If so, there's a good chance I know him, or know of him. A pretty good size group of us get together for lunch once a month or so. Also have him check out this page, it's a giant run about 3 hours from the Metroplex. http://info.texasraptorrun.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm down south of 20 and east of 35. Off 1187

New Guy in DFW
Hey guys, new here. I was referred here by Oppo on WeaponsForum. I couldn't find a introduction section so I just put this thread here, mods feel free to move this wherever.
I am 20 now, so I plan to get my CHL in about a year. My plan right now is to carry an M&P Shield in .40 S&W. I can't wait to learn what holsters and carry positions work for y'all, tips and tricks, and what all is involved in getting your CHL.
Also, I'm used to more free, open forums, where almost anything goes. I will try to remember and follow all rules, please forgive me if I slip up sometime.
Added: A little about me (since this is an introductory), I buy and sell mining equipment for a living. I also attend college. Some of my favorite hobbies are offroading, hunting, and skeet shooting. When I go offroading, it's high speed desert style, not mudding. I either go in my truck, a 2010 Ford Raptor 6.2L, or in a trophy truck. I'm on the pit crew for our trophy truck, as well as, co-drive it. We compete in the Best in the Desert racing series.
