Re: Do Strict Gun Laws Really Stop Gun Crime? (Yeah, incredi

Or....

1). In January 2013, the Chicago Tribune had the following headline, "US struggles over which gun crimes to prosecute. Obama's Justice Dept has shown little appetite to prosecute what it considers low-level firearms crimes. There were 506 murders in Chicago last year. Federal prosecution for gun crimes was only 63 in fiscal year 2011.

Chicago ranks 89th out of 90 US Attorney's Districts in prosecuting gun crimes according to the Syracuse Univ. Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) which is the gold standard in reviewing the performance of federal LE performance.

2). Under federal law, lying to a licensed gun dealer, lying on form 4473 and straw sales are all serious federal felonies. Holder's Justice Dept. calls them "paper violations". Yet those are the very same crimes that anti-gun background check supporters say demand a background check, which is a national registration scheme for all law abiding gun owners. The Justice Dept isn't prosecuting these serious felonies now and yet those anti-gun politicians want expanded background check.

3) Here are the federal gun statutes with years in prison for violating these laws all citations to United States Code (U.S.C.)

a). 18 U.S.C. (10 yrs prison)-for possession of a firearm or ammunition by a felon, fugitive or drug user. Moreover, possession means simply touching any gun period.

b). 18 U.S.C Sec. 922(j). 10 years prison. For possessing a stolen firearm.

c). 18 U.S.C. sec 922 (i) 10 yrs prison. For shipment or transporting of a stolen firearm across state lines.

d). 18 U.S.C. sec 924 (b) 10 yrs prison. For shipping, transporting or receipt of a firearm across state lines with intent to commit any felony offense.

e). 18 U.S.C. 924 (a)(1)(A) 5 to 30 yrs prison consecutive mandatory sentences for carrying or possessing a firearm in connection with a federal crime of violence or drug trafficking.

f) 18 U.S.C. 924 (j) death penalty or life imprisonment. For committing murder while possessing a firearm in connection with drug trafficking or crime of violence.

g) 18 U.S.C. 924 (e) 15 yrs mandatory prison. for a "prohibited person" who has three prior convictions for drug offenses or violent felonies

h) 18 U.S.C. 924 (g) 10 years prison. For the interstate travel to acquire or transfer a firearm to commit certain felonies.

Give this to every libtard who complains about the failure of gun control and ask them why the Justice Dept prosecute gun crimes now?
