Re: Coverage of the Derek Chauvin Trial in death of George Floyd

When we had situations like that, we would call medics. They would transport to the hospital before being cleared to go to the jail. It would have been easier to transport on a medical cot than in a squad car anyway, for someone in that condition. I'm sure they already suspected his drug use, and s...

Re: Coverage of the Derek Chauvin Trial in death of George Floyd

It seems clear that there is reasonable doubt. I can't tell if this is suicide by ingestion of drugs, a COVID related death, or police abuse. Since the neck hold was approved by the officer's department, it is difficult to place the blame with him personally. Perhaps duration is a factor. I get tha...

If you do get one, research long and hard before you go off riding it. I've heard ACOE managed trails will not allow them.

The police academy. No other class can make you feel as prepared for a job as the police academy. And sadly, any old FTO can make you feel dumber than a bag of hammers.

Re: Glock 27 Gen 4

I'm pretty sure they're factory. ;-) [ Image ] Are you SURE you're sure? "rlol" My wife's G19 (gen 3) came with factory installed Trijicons, but that was in January of 2009 when we bought it. I could certainly be mistaken.: I think Meprolight is who makes them for Glock, only these ...

That's where I got mine. They also had a coupon code for $30 off, and the gun shop down the street from me is doing free transfers for May. Couldn't pass all that up.

I just picked up a 40. For $340 total, I figure I can buy a 9mm barrel for the $450 before tax price the local shops are wanting.

Re: Red Light Camera

I find it fascinating that some here advocate just glibly complying with what is clearly an unconstitutional act (violating the 5th and 6th Amendments) by complying with a demand to pay a fine from a red light camera. Clearly to who, you? The US 7th circuit court of appeals issued a ruling a few ye...

Re: Would you search for a shooter?

I plan to get the truck out of Dodge. With my looks, I'm worried cops will assume I'm the active shooter. What you can do is call 911, leave the open line, and narrate your actions. It's all recorded, and the information will be relayed directly to the responding officers. The more information you ...

Re: Would you search for a shooter?

If I was close enough to see it happen then yeah I would do what I could to help but as far as going looking for the gunman, doubt it. I would be too afriad of being shot by responding officers. You face the same obstacle an off duty officer does. My department policy recommends I be armed at all t...

Re: Armed Teachers - what am I seeing incorrectly?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I know I'd much rather take a report from an armed and cooperative citizen who killed one bad guy, than deliver multiple death notifications to all the murder victims. You take care of business first; there will always be time for introductions at the end.

Re: Would you search for a shooter?

I don't think it's in me to go the other direction. Every time I've searched a building for a potential bad guy, they could always end up shooting at me. Guys I've worked with have had just that happen. At least in a scenario like suggested, you know they're shooting, and you are better able to pinp...
