Isn't that the same Sig model that got recalled, though?safety1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 11:04 amUnderstood...the P226 is not an apples to apples comparison...I do love mine. Glock 17 $500-550 ?? Sig P320 $550-599 ?? (then add in your $100 sights). If you shop you can find a good price point. The Sig is just a better gun right out of the box.K.Mooneyham wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 12:53 amI got to shoot a Sig P226 many years ago. It had the SRT and was excellent. However, Sigs are WAY out of my price range, those things are a grand or more, last time I looked. I have plans to change the sights, yes. (However, not the trigger, it works good enough for me.) The sights I'm looking at for my G17 are steel, and cost under $100. The plastic sights on the Glock work fine, but I want night sights.safety1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 8:08 pm I’m just gonna say it......none of them!
I love Glock (own 4 of them)....but Sig is way better.
If you think the Sig costs more, you are right.
You will find out after your new sights and the trigger
modes you’ll need on your Glock, you’d have had
that right out of the box with a Sig. just my 2 cents.
Whatever you get....enjoy it!

Re: Which Glock to buy?
The G45 has a full-size grip frame, the slide, barrel, and front of the frame are compact sized. Think of it as a "commander style" version of the 17. Maybe someday I'll trade the 17 I got in on a G45, but who knows how long that might be with the current mess going on.

Re: Which Glock to buy?
Well, just to update this post:
I finally had the funding, so I went and bought a Glock. Purchased it at the LGS. Unfortunately, due to the current mess going on in this country, Glocks are selling so fast that they as they reach the distributors, they are being snapped up almost immediately! The salesman at the LGS looked at allocations for Glock 45s. There were five of them, and none were for the store here, of course. I asked him what the lead time was, he told me "Might be a day, might be a year, it's completely random". So, I decided to look at what else they had in the case. Mostly there were single stack pistols like the G48, and couple of sub-compacts. I already have a Shield 9mm and wasn't in the market for either of those.
However, they did have ONE Glock 17, Gen 5, the latest version with the front slide serrations and beveled frame to match the beveled slide. I bought it because I wasn't going to wait who knows how long for a G45. Anyway, it came in a hard-plastic case, with three magazines, plastic loader, a cheezy cleaning rod and brush, and the ubiquitous gun lock. After trying a couple of the add-on backstraps, I put the medium beavertail (+2mm) on it, which made it fit my hand much better. Ran 185 rounds through it once I got it home, without cleaning first. Zero failures-to-feed, fire, or extract. Used three types of FMJ. Winchester steel case 115 grain, Blazer Brass 115 grain, and S&B 124 grain. I won't speak on accuracy because I wasn't really trying for that, and I haven't shot it enough yet to be feel competent with it. I will say that I'm glad I waited all these years to buy a Glock because I like this Gen 5 much better than any of the older ones I shot in the past.

Which Glock to buy?
Okay, after all these years, I've finally decided to break down and buy a Glock. I'm a 9mm guy, and am trying to decide whether to buy a Gen 5 Glock 17 or a Glock 19x. Both have interchangeable backstraps which is one of the features I'm wanting. I want a full-size frame, so I don't want a Glock 19. I have other, more concealable pistols, so that isn't a concern. Why should I buy one versus the other?
*Yes, I know there is a shortage of firearms right now. Hopefully that will change and stock will be back available in the near future*
