Re: When Television News Anchors Become Gun Control Activists

Oh my, the .223 is a "high velocity" cartridge...except that, again, the ignorance of the antis showcases itself. Anyone who is knowledgeable about firearms knows that the ENERGY of the round is what matters the most, along with bullet design to help harness that energy. I'm going to post the figures for three common American rifle rounds, and anyone who reads this can tell me which has the most energy.

Cartridge (Wb + type)/ MV (fps) / V @ 200 yds / ME (ft lb)/ E @ 200 yds
.223 Rem. (55 Sp)/ 3240/ 2304 / 1282/ 648
.30-30 Win. (150 FP) / 2390/ 1605/ 1902/ 858
.30-06 Spfd. (150 Sp)/ 2910 / 2342/ 2820/ 1827

(Please note, the work involving the numbers is NOT my own, I do not make any personal claim to owning this work, I took it from a webpage that can be easily accessed by anyone with a quick search, and did so solely for educational purposes. However, I have no reason to doubt the numbers.)
