Re: Collin County Fire Marshal making up "laws"

Do you know if you neighbor has owned that same piece of property they are on for a long time? The reason I ask is this...I lived my teenage years in South Texas. Those that lived "out in the brush" the longest, tended to hold sway with the local law enforcement at a higher rate than others who had lived there less time. It was simply a matter of familiarity to some degree, and if its true in this case, might lead the law enforcement types to tend to believe your neighbor.

The neighbor may be friends with the fire marshal and is getting him to pressure you or he has convinced him you are running a business. I would also press him to provide you with details of what makes him suspect you are running a business.

Or, you could contact a good lawyer and let him/her check into it.
I dont think I can afford a lawyer. We do not have a gate, we are the last piece of property on a single dirt road. The Sheriffes that were out there said that if anybody had a FFL they were going to jail. Still do not understand how that would have worked out.

Kind of wondering if it is worth trying to grab this tiger by the tail.
Okay, now I'm confused. What did it matter if someone had an FFL or not? :headscratch

Re: Collin County Fire Marshal making up "laws"

I sure hate hearing this sort of stuff. Always some rule, regulation, law, ordnance, etc. that someone is always willing to (mis)use to their advantage to cause someone else a problem. Just to clarify, though, that 10 and 50 acre rule stuff doesn't apply if its not in a municipality, right? That is, if you aren't in any sort of a city limits? What is the definition of "extraterritorial jurisdiction of the municipality"? These are the kinds of things that become hard to understand just when they apply, to me at least.
