Start with a 22 and work through what ever she is comfortable. When she decides what she wants to shoot and carry be supportive it is after all her choice

Interesting option looks like possibly good option I have a Can Can Concealment big she bang really love it great retention. This doesn't look as sturdy.

They are doing it in Texas, Austin, Houston, Galveston. I have been approved in all these cities so far no one has gotten agressive with a no. But they are more agressive with women than men.

Springfield XDS-9mm would be worth a look, if you're limiting yourself to single stack guns. I seem to remember it more when I first started shooting. I initially shot an LCR and it was pretty tough. But gradually it got better, check your grip and hand placement
