Return to “President Obama's Gun Grabbing Tour”
This is true, but the fact that they have such an enormous bully pulpit is scary. Part of their goal is to win hearts and minds and make it seem OK to surrender your defenses. It may just work on a yet to be determined portion of current gun owners.OldCannon wrote:No it ain't. Our opposition is unarmed. Not. Gonna. Happen.
Yeah, the authoritarian, er, progressive movement is tireless. They've got most of today's youth, the mainstream media and Hollywood square in their corner. It's gonna get ugly.i8godzilla wrote:His political campaign resources are now being shaped into a into a non-profit advocate of the president’s policies,. The former Obama campaign will become a non-profit that will advocate for the president’s policies, the first such transition for a major political organization, First Lady Michelle Obama announced Friday.
Obama for America campaign manager Jim Messina will become chairman of the new group, called Organizing for Action, and White House aide Jon Carson will join as executive director. The group will disclose its donors.
The new group will accept donations form individuals and corporations but not from lobbyists or PACs, the AP reported.
“Now in terms of the specifics of what this organization will look like, a lot of that will be up to you,” the first lady said. “It will be determined by your energy and ideas and feedback — because after all, this is your movement.”

To be sure, there's a network of progressive advocacy organizations who are active on a wide range of issues. "But none of them have the sole job of mobilizing on behalf of the president's agenda," Demissie said. Obama's grassroots supporters "have been trained now, through two presidential election cycles, to work and organize and do the hard work of politics. Now, Obama can really use that power and those skills."
Expect there to be campaign type rallies with all the Hollywood types endorsing most if not all of his policies. They will not let up. We are in this fight for the next four years!
I think we have a lot of quality depth.chasfm11 wrote:He is a masterful politician and this roadshow is accomplishing several things.
- it is keeping something other than the lousy economy, the deficit and unemployment in the limelight. It is a great diversion
- it is but another attempt to divide the electorate. He has been successful at driving wedges between groups on many other subjects. He would like nothing better than the pit the "bitter clingers" against everyone else. We can only hope that he has miscalculated. Given his success rate at picking the right side of many of these arguments, that is all that it can be at this moment - a hope
This is like an NFL game in the 3rd quarter where the purpose of the offense is simply to wear down the defense. I hope that we collectively have enough stamina not to let that happen.
