Re: Pool Party Mayhem in McKinney

And the lunacy continues:

Alberto Iber lost his job as the principal at North Miami Senior High School after he wrote a comment about the McKinney, Texas incident on the Miami Herald’s website.

“He did nothing wrong,” Iber wrote. “He was afraid for his life. I commend him for his actions.”

Three sentences. Sixteen words. Sixty-two characters.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools released a statement on June 10 announcing that Mr. Iber had been removed from his position at the high school and reassigned to an administrative position.

The district said they require their employees to conduct themselves “in a manner that represents the school district’s core values.”
I guess supporting local police is not one of the school district's core values. Great thing to be teaching their students.

The kids are to blame for the entire incident. Could that Corporal have handled things better? Honestly, in these times where LEOs seem to be wearing targets, there's no way I'm going to MMQB that call. Given how quickly the gun was reholstered leads me to believe there was no malice and no overzealousness involved in drawing the weapon.
:iagree:
Well said.

I don't see how this can be laid at the feet of the civic leaders and/or police. Primarily, it's the parents that have failed for not raising young adults that respect others around them and their property, especially those in authority. Instead, they have allowed their "children" to become rude, disrespectful, violent thugs (or at least wannabe thugs) who care nothing about anyone or anything other than what they want. They showed a complete lack of respect for the families living in that neighborhood, many of them "real" children, and the police that were called into a difficult and dangerous situation. Honestly, those (I can't say "children" and they certainly aren't adults; not sure what to call them) got off very lucky, as that situation could have gone much worse for them.

That is the real problem. Solve that one, and most of the other nonsense goes away.
