I have fired them indoors on the AFPD range in NY. It takes so little time for the round to transit 50 feet that it just appears as a flash, not much different from muzzle flash except longer.
Thanks... Figured as much. Now I know.
AND KNOWING IS 1/2 THE BATTLE!

I've never fired tracers indoors so I am asking.... Could these not have been seen by other shooters? I know outside you can see them flying down range.

Both...

I am at Shoot Smart in Fort Worth. They regularly swipe with a magnet ring and often will ask to "see" your ammo. They too, had a small fire a couple weeks ago from someone using tracer rounds but it smoldered instead of flared up.

I wasn't clear, as I'm on my droid... It was right around when the ownership changed. That's when I found out about the range.
Ah ha. :thumbs2:

Okay, here it is from their website:
Built from a solid foundation, the company was started In September 1995, when a local businessman and two Dallas police officers incorporated the present business known as the DFW Gun Club.

Just did a records check back through January 2010 and got no hits on it.
The roof over the pistol range and a wall collapsed back in 2006. The incident closed the facility for quite a while.
Ah, that would be why I couldn't find it. I only searched back to 2010 and NFIRS digital is kinda sketchy prior to 2008.
I think it was just a couple months after they opened.

Really, I didn't know they were illegal.
Jason's a nice enough guy and a good fireman but he is mistaken, against rules, not illegal.
I posted a question on the blog. I can't tell for sure if Jason said this or it was "added" by the author.
