Re: DO WE NEED TO REPLACE CHL100 WITH LTC 100?
Just got an email from two of my students. They took my class 4/15/2017 and just finally got around to applying for their licenses. Naturally their graduation certificates were CHL-100s (not LTC-100 since it did not exist yet). Apparently DPS rejected their graduation certificates because it was not...

Re: Check your new Instructor Certificate
Thanks for the search suggestion. I tried it, but the other instructor is not listed. It was a good idea.

Check your new Instructor Certificate
Just got my new Instructor's Certificate in the mail. Yeahhhh! Well...., maybe not. While the envelope correctly was addressed to me at my address, the certificate inside had someone else's name (although the last name matched) and the wrong certificate number. I suggest that everyone check their ce...

New LTC Exam - Question 2
While question number two (which I will not quote here) on the new exam (2016) is unchanged from the previous exam (2015); is the answer now ambigious? The question by the way it is stated refers to both concealed and open carry, yet it only specifies 30.06 (and not 30.07).

Are 51% establishments off limits when closed
One of the students in my class runs a housekeeping/cleaning service company. One of the places he is contacted to clean is a bar (which displays a 51% sign). He cleans it only during hours while it is closed for business. His question, does the 51% signage apply when the business is closed. In read...

Re: Questions about Connecticut CHL
Ace, I recently got my CT permit as a resident of Texas. Basically, I called CT and requested that they send me the packet with all the forms and instuctions. The instructions said I needed (1) two new sets of finger prints, (2) passport photos, (3) fill out their forms, (4) a copy of my TX permit, ...

Re: Traffic Stop/LEO Encounters
I have had my CHL since they first started (guess that is about 12 years or so). Since then I have been stopped once for speeding by the CHiP on a drive from San Francisco area to Reno in the mid 90s. At that time, I think the officer did not realize what the CHL was and assumed I was LEO in Texas. ...

Re: Permit from another state
I think i remember a thread a while ago that went something like this: Assume I am carrying in Texas under a Utah permit and a LEO busts me for failure to conceal. Under texas law, I can get a suspension of my license for 30 (or some number) of days. Unfortunately, since my permit was issued by Utah...

Re: Wife's perception on CHL
One day after I had my CHL, the wife and I were out somewhere (I cannot remember exactly where) and stuff started getting a little wierd. She leaned over to me and whispered "You do have your gun, right?". Although I do not wish this type of situation on you or your wife; when it happens (...

Re: Grapevine Citizen's Police Academy
Hi hi-power, You'all in Grapevine are way ahead of us in Colleyville in the CPA program. We have just established our Alumni organization, officers (I am Secretary) and are working on mission statement, dues, and programs. We hope to eventually establish our COPs (Citizens On Patrol) program in the ...

Re: Grapevine Citizen's Police Academy
Hi hi-power, The town just to the south of you, Colleyville, also has a CPA. They offer their CPA about once a year and one just started yesterday (1/24 Thursday). Colleyville being a small town has a number of mutual-aid agreements with the surrounding cities (including Grapevine). When I went thro...

A while back (8 or 9 years ago) we were warned by the local LEOs, that some older trick-or-treaters were ringing the door bell and then committing a pushin type home invasion. From then on I dress up for holloween to answer the door bell. I dress up as a cowboy. My six shooter is made by Colt and it...
