this tax proposal is punitive IMHO. they know that the tax revenues won't help reduce crime. it would be neat to count up the number of bullets that are illegally fired (not purchased) in a year, and then count the tax revenue that would be generated from only those "illegal" bullets. lets say that 5000 shots are illegally fired in los angeles in a year, which is probably way way way too large of a number (even if you include illegal shooting on new years and the 4th, which having lived there for 6 years, always occurs). let's say its a 20 cent tax on each bullet. 1000 bucks! that's a few lakers tickets! conclusion: the libs just don't like our guns or ammo and want to make it hard for us to buy them. and they probably also just want to spite us and make their base happy.
