I'm a pretty big fan of leather holsters however kydex seems to be all the rage and has been for awhile so I thought I'd give it a chance. At the time I was looking there were not many holsters on the market for the P238 and kydex ones were all but non-existent except for the crappy one Sig included. Oddly enough I saw a guy on Instagram selling custom kydex holsters for a decent price and again I gave it a shot. It turned out to be a great decision and has the added benefit of helping out an American small business.

It's a ThinkFast Custom Kydex holster and they're made by a guy named Chad Stover. Since I ordered mine he has expanded his operation and gun selection a bit - as well as kydex color options. Mine was made and in my hands in a few weeks and there was a thank you note on invoice. I was also kept updated on the process, timing and shipping (even got a tracking number). I plan to order through him again.

I carry mine pretty frequently since I don't care for leather in 100 degree heat and I've been very happy with my purchase. Retention is great, the holster itself is tiny and I can seriously draw like lightning from this thing.

I recently picked up a Galco Jackass shoulder holster that I'll review here soon but to give you the skinny it is comfortable and easy to draw from with practice. It was pricey but it is a high quality rig.

I have been using this one since January - The DeSantis Cozy Partner for the Sig Sauer P238.

This was the first IWB holster that I purchased for my Sig and I’ve fallen in love with the thing. The price was $50 and free shipping from Optics Planet via Amazon.

The break-in period is about a week and you’ll find particles of leather on your gun for a little while after that but it is not excessive. The retention is fantastic even when outside of the waistband and I can shake the gun upside down and it won’t slide out of the holster. It is a canted holster and it’s a “FBI cant”. This makes it perfect for 3/4 o’clock carry however I prefer appendix carry and it is equally as comfortable. Even though it is a leather holster I am able to re-holster without issue unlike the cheaper Galco IWB pictured below alongside the DeSantis. The belt loops fit up to 1.75 and I’ve had no issues at all with any belts smaller than that. It does have an adjustable retention screw that is towards the back of the trigger guard but I have found it to be unnecessary although that may change over time. I am able to conceal my gun very well in this holster typically with just a t-shirt and it completely disappears with anything more than that.

If I haven't mentioned it yet this holster is incredibly comfortable. The exterior leather is as smooth as butter, and it has excellent coverage so that you're not being poked with steel. I decided to carry this on a 4 hour hike (appendix carry) and the gun didn't move, I wasn't rubbed raw and I honestly didn't really feel it there at all unless I was bending over to catch my breath . I also noticed that it didn't appear to be sponging up sweat.

Simply put this is one of the best non-custom holsters on the market for the P238.
