I ride.
I have an '07 Nightster, '05 Kawasaki ZX-10R, and a GSXR600 track bike. No pictures on the computer I'm using now, but I can post'em later.

Re: Utah Teachers Concealed Carry

I was going to write something similar, but someone beat me to it. I definitely agree with what jmra posted. I'm a teacher, myself. Don't underestimate what teachers are capable of.

Re: Armed Teachers: Thinking Outside the Box
I would love to know how many teachers would be behind this program. Right now, we're discussing this on a forum of CHL holders/gun enthusiasts with some members who are teachers. Discuss this on a forum where it's teachers, some with CHL's, and the discussion would be interesting.

Re: Armed Teachers: Thinking Outside the Box
But you want the Teachers to rely on one entity. This sounds like the doom sayers about CHL people in general. "Most the people I know I wouldn't trust with a gun...I would be concerned that they wouldn't know how to react in a stressfull situation...would they miss...would they hit someone el...

This is a high school. We have two full-time police officers on campus, and we have roaming security during the nights (not police, like Dallas ISD police).CC Italian wrote:So you have never done a practice drill? Is this a HS?
Do you have your own isd police?

Re: Armed Teachers: Thinking Outside the Box
I just find this difficult to read by people who take the responsibility for our own protection and then say that Teachers should just let the Police protect them. If you really believe the Police are the the solution to our protection, we can just turn in our CHL's and let them protect us. Teacher...

Re: Harrold ISD - They have it right
WOW! Lucky you. All but one was a false alarm in my case. Edit: You guys do drills though? Fire drill: at least once. A real fire broke out twice this year. Tornado drill: had a warning earlier this year. Everything was fine. Lockdown: We have the procedures E-mailed to us, and we're expected to do...

Re: Armed Teachers: Thinking Outside the Box
The high schools here in Katy (all 5A) are like shopping malls. They are huge with 3000+ students each spread out over several buildings with multiple entrances. Metal detectors are NOT an option. Just too many different buildings. The Jr. Highs are almost as large and the elementaries have 1000+ s...

Re: Harrold ISD - They have it right
The ISSUE here IS allowing teachers, and staff with CHL's to DEFEND THE LIVES OF CHILDREN entrusted to their care. This is not subject matter for PHD dissertations, commissions, or the usual bureacratic run-around. Schedule an emergency meeting of every ISD in Texas ( and throughout the other 49 st...

Re: Armed Teachers: Thinking Outside the Box
These are teachers not LEO’s. They should be the last line of defense, not hunters. They are there to protect and oversee the students, not run off and try to arrest a bad guy and leave scared children alone. You know how much trouble a scared child can get into in 5 minutes? What happens if the te...

Re: Harrold ISD - They have it right
We can cite law all day long, but ultimately, it's the decision of the district to allow teachers to carry in the school. I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer on the topic, but I've barked up the same tree for some time. I cited the law, gave examples, provided research for all the reasons an armed ...

Re: Harrold ISD - They have it right
We have to think about training those teachers with CHL's how to react and respond to a school shooting. Schools practice fire drill, tornado drills... but not lock-downs (not as much as it should be done). This is an example of how one school reacted: http://www.myfoxdfw.com/story/20368008/active-s...
