Re: "Waiting Room"
Yes, non resident background checks tend to take longer. It will happen.

Unfortunately, the wait is not over. When it finally says "Mailed", It sits in someones pile for a week or so.
My status went to mailed on the 10th, no plastic as of yet.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Be patient. It takes 2-3 weeks before the online status shows received.McKinney Resident wrote:I regret not mailing my packet certified mail because now I don't know if DPS got it or if a postal employee saw it and went postal. Online status continues to say awaiting paperwork.
Timeline:
10/8: Online App.
10/10: CHL class. Pass. Pictures taken.
10/11: Mailed paperwork.
10/16: Fingerprints.
10/22: Called DPS for status. Operator stated she received my fingerprints, but not the paperwork. She advised to give it a few weeks.
11/1: No status change. Still waiting for paperwork.
I've been reading this board for a couple of weeks now and my wait does not seem to be inconsistent, so I will just be patient. BUT I sure do wish I sent that packet certified.
FYI, DPS only updates their website once/day at about 6am so don't be like me, checking multiple times/day. You'll just drive yourself bananas.

I sent my packet in the week after you. I was hoping the status would be updated this week. Guess not.
I have been checking 3-5 times/day. I'm the optimistic type.
I think the DPS only updates the site once per day. Not sure what time. I used to check it in the morning.
But what if they updated in the afternoon, or early evening, or 8:23 pm? I would miss it. Maybe I should check hourly

At least the easy part of checking is the DL/SSN/DOB. I memorized my DL shortly after I received it (lo, these many years....) and my SSN from the days when HS and colleges use it as your student ID number. After almost 40 years of reciting them that is the easy part. The one I can't remember is my wife's DL.
