Re: Off The Beaten Path - Plainview, TX

While Plainview is still the home and main campus for Wayland Baptist University, the school has greatly expanded and has campuses around the world. Wayland campuses specialize in classes for working adults, especially the military. In 1999, I received my bachelor's degree from the San Antonio campus, and that year San Antonio had more graduates than the main campus did. In addition to Plainview and San Antonio, Texas campuses include Amarillo, Lubbock, and Wichita Falls. The San Antonio campus also teaches classes in the Rio Grande Valley area and El Paso. Classes are also available on-line.

For a bachelor's degree you only get religion in two required courses, one on the Old Testament and one on the New Testament. As a member of a different religion, I did not experience any problems in this area and all religions were welcome as students. These classes were not attempts at influencing you to convert but were academic studies of the material.

I also received my masters degree in management from WBU in 2003.

If anyone is thinking of furthering their education, I strongly recommend considering WBU. My experience is that the professors and administration care much more about helping students learn and complete their degrees than at most schools. If it matters to you, I will add that it is one of the schools that does not indoctrinate students with a liberal philosophy.
