Question on legislative process

I have a question that I am unsure about on the process used by the legislature.

I noticed that a few bills have been filed by a person who is no longer in the legislature. Kleinschmidt filed some bills I would support, but he has resigned to take a position in the Agriculture Commission. How does this affect the bills if he was the author or sponsor? Does it make a difference if his replacement does or does not support the bill?
