Well, not an expert, but I do have a CDL. This is one of those small areas where I have my opinion and it differs from what some have posted here. I see no mention of the restriction on commercial vehicles in the law. As I read it, if you own it or are in control of it, you can carry, with the other restrictions, and it doesn't matter if it is a permit tractor trailer that is over width, length, and weight or the smallest moped on the street. I think part of the confusion over commercial vehicles is in the area of taxi's and busses. If I am paying the taxi to take me to a specific place, it can be debated that I am in control of it. It also can be argued that I have rented it (or the bus when I pay the fare). I would not recommend trying either of these arguments as I do not believe this was what was meant by in control. But for driving a commercial vehicle, I think you should be OK - until your boss says otherwise.
