Re: Arrests

Yes, Newlife, I am an LEO. And that is where I actually got the confusion on the time from. I was thinking of the requirement for a peace officer, which is ten years for a Class B (never for a class A). You are correct, of course, on the five years for a CHL.

Re: Arrests

Yeah, Jim PM'ed me about missing the wit. But, when you have arrested the same person twice in 24 hours, it kind of slips past you. Most people arrested are frequent fliers and once every two months is not nearly as bad as I have seen.

Re: Arrests

I have to agree with 03LightningRocks and Newlife12176. If the 20 arrests had all occurred recently, I might be alarmed. I would hope it would be more cautious than alarmed though. But if they happened ten years ago and he told me he had turned over a new leaf and been good since then, I can accept that. It might have taken a little longer than I would have liked, but I see it as proof that there is something right in the criminal justice system and people can be rehabilitated. Of course, it ususally (IMHO) has little to do with the CJ system and much more with a person's desire to rehabilitate himself.

I think this is exactly why the state says a misdemeanor more than 10 years ago is not a disqualification for a CHL. I would actually like to think a felony should also not be a disqualification after the sentence is done but I recognize the problem with federal laws there. We really need to change the federal law to allow for people who make a mistkae and learn from it.
