I was told as a rookie that there are two things I needed to learn, and when I could do those two things, I would not be a rookie any longer:
1. An experienced cop never goes hungry.
2. An experienced cop never gets wet.
Working in the academy, I can now say I am an experienced cop. I don't miss too many meals, and I don't work outside in the rain.
