I have been a loyal Discount customer for at least 30 years also. They have a policy of fixing repairable flats for free, no matter where you bought the tires. That worked to get me in the door for them and after a couple times, I rewarded them with buying a set. I have stuck with them ever since. I have disagreed with them a couple times on whether a flat was repairable or not, but it was usually a marginal call anyway on the puncture being close to the edge of the tread.

They also have an interesting policy of selling tire road service guarantees to you for a new car, charging the same price as if you had bought the tires from them. Learned about that on a flat tire on a truck that was a month old.

I have had them try to upsell me, but it was never a hard sell. They have signs in the stores showing why you should keep new tires in pairs and they have pointed it out to me, but if I said no they always dropped it. I thought that was fair. And they did the opposite on my last set. I bought five tires because I had no idea if the spare had ever been replaced on a used truck and I was changing the tire size slightly. They felt I did not need to buy a new spare and tried to convince me to only get 4 tires.
