You are probably right JAllen, but be it drugs or associating with known felons or maybe a combination of both she made her choice... Rather than face a revocation hearing she chose instead to face down a Border Patrol agent's weapon. The real tragedy here are the 5 children she left behind, my prayers go out to them.JALLEN wrote:I imagine that she was in violation of the terms of her probation by being in that apartment with known users possibly, known felons, possibly, and needed to disappear or end up in a revocation hearing with not much excuse.

Re: CA woman fatally shot after allegedly driving into borde
If the report is true then this woman has no excuse. After hitting an agent once she was informed that she was under arrest and as another agent was trying to turn off her car she takes off hitting the agent again embedding him in her windshield. At a speed of 25 MPH that agent was on her hood for at least 16 seconds before he opened fire, I think at that point it would be safe to say she did not plan on stopping.
As it was stated before, this is something that LEOs simply do not train for, and for those who say he should rolled off anyway keep in mind that the fastest human speed ever recorded was only 27 MPH and that was from an Olympic athlete. So picture yourself running at a dead sprint ( Which is probably quite a bit slower than 25 MPH unless you are a competitive sprinter) then suddenly leaping up and landing either on your stomach or back onto asphalt.
As far as I am concerned I think the Border Patrol agent was completely justified in using deadly force.

Re: CA woman fatally shot after allegedly driving into borde
I agree that the situation could have been alot worse if she died with her foot on the gas pedal. But lets assume that the reports are true and she did ram him with her car, in that case her intentions are clear that she wanted to do bodily harm to him and that if he rolled off of a moving car there is a good chance he could be incapacitated and all she would have had to do was throw the car in reverse and finish the job.Dave2 wrote:Why would turning a car into an uncontrollable motorized ball of glass & steel be a good idea? I realize he wanted to get off, but it seems like his "solution" couldn't have improved the situation.
Also, throwing yourself off a moving vehicle is a terrifying prospect not many people are willing to do. Keep in mind this probably all happened in a matter of seconds, and in those few seconds the agent was probably in a state of pure panic where he reacted the way he was trained to... draw and stop the threat.
Imagine yourself in this scenario... You are sitting in your favorite couch watching that amazing new show and you suddenly feel a tickle on your leg. You look down and see a <insert name of most feared creepy crawly> crawling/slithering/sliming its way up your leg. Do you:
A) Locate the nearest trash recepticle, verify that the area around the trash recpticle is clear, and calculate the proper velocity and trajectory needed to launch said creepy crawly into the recepticle....
Or. ..
B) Start kicking your leg manically all the while screaming "Get it off me!" and after the creepy crawly is sent flying across the room will you locate the nearest creepy crawly killer and embark on a search and destroy mission.
I'm willing to bet most people will choose B or a variation of it. Most people will just react when in a panic state and most of the time that reaction will be "Whatever I can do to stop the threat now!"

Re: CA woman fatally shot after allegedly driving into borde
According to the video segments he was in plain clothes as part of an undercover operation to serve a felony warrant to someone in that area, when the woman supposedly struck him with her car lodging him in the windshield. She drove with him on her hood for several hundred yards before he opened fire.
I would have probably reacted the same way if i was stuck on the hood of a moving vehicle.

Re: CA woman fatally shot after allegedly driving into borde
It is a shame that she had to die, but her husband is something else...
"Where's the evidence that my wife threatened a trained officer?"
How about that border patrol agent shaped dent on her hood and windshield???![banghead :banghead:](./images/smilies/banghead.gif)
