CHL/LEO wrote:This entire process is only to make people attending the fair "feel good" about security. Possibly a few people who are UCW see them searching and decide to leave. If someone wanted to get weapons into the fair all they need to do is have an accomplice go to one side of the perimeter fence and hand a gun over to them. We catch people passing contraband in this way every year and also attempting to scale the fence to enter.

I advise everyone who attends the fair to be personally responsible for their own security and if you have a CHL bring your gun if you have a way to properly secure it if you intend to partake of the rides. By far the greatest danger to you is not inside the fair grounds but in the parking lots and neighborhoods that surround it.
Bingo!!!

This discussion sure did take an interesting tack...I like it...We need to have this one from time to time...

I'd like to but I've still got some medical issues to work through from my surgery last month. I've been feeling better the last couple of weeks, but I've still got a long way to go before I'm back to a semblence of normal.

BTW, I was definitely in fear for my life prior to going into surgery. But I knew it was not reasonable to employ deadly force. (Besides, the hospital was posted with compliant 30.06 signs.)

I guess call me a prude, but I'm still miffed by the whole taking names and data on your license down on some sheet of paper...

Who controls that data, and what are the retention and destruction protocols...

I believe its the simplest questions when you ask, that stump people...

Yep some of the stuff was a bit over the top, but I figure they can't really do anything more than what they've done to a few that got rubbed the wrong way...

Last that I recall of that issue was that you could carry, but you'd be put through a gauntlet of questions, searches, and other embarrasing public dressing downs that it all hinges on what you are willing to put up with...

But maybe this year things will not be as demeaning...
