I am also not advocating turning this thread into a "papers please" thread...

So I am doing my part to nip that in the bud, for what its worth...

You're right, I didn't even say...

I tape it long ways down the other side from where the mag strips are...I make it similar to a "hinge" that lets them fold against each other and not stress the tape and wear it out...

It was a very old trick someone from PDO many years ago mentioned they do just to keep the info together and reduce any fumbling for stuff in the event you need to give Law Enforcement this information...It was thought that the more organized you were in these situations that you at least kept the LEO from waiting to long keeping them exposed to any traffic issues along the highway...

If I get a ticket, that fine, but I am absolutely not going to allow these guys and gals to be exposed to getting hit in these instances...I will do what I can where I can to make the traffic stop safe for them, more than my welfare in having to pay the state for my breaking the law...

As for the use of the information on the stripe, if its not for Law Enforement use, anyone else should not even have a chance to swipe anything on a persons license...

I really hope they don't RIF these licenses...

Are there any other states that do this already??? Or contemplating this???

Somehow I knew I should have clarified this, but thats ok, everyone brought up a good point or two about this...

I don't run the tape over the magnetic data strip for that very reason...

But since I have never seen, anyone swipe a DL for any reason since they changed the design and purpose of the Texas DL, I am at a loss...

But just between you and I...I don't think it works anyway for some strange reason... ;-)

All the data they need is in print on the front of the license...IMO...

But I've been known to be a rebel without a clue, from time to time... ;-)

I am not advocating anything inappropriate, or illegal, in this revelation...Maybe I should run over the the DMV and see if it works or something...

I need to remember to do this when I get my renewed CHL...

I used to "clear" tape both my DL and the CHL together just so they would stay together for this very purpose...Saves me some time, and have had no complaints or concerns voiced about this "system"...

I also for the life of my CHL, have I ever expected anything but a citation if I get caught with a heavy foot on the gas...I believe it gets all the frustration out of the way, before I say something a bit off to upset whomever is stopping me...Attitude is key, and I don't plan on getting anything but a free bowl of soup with it, if that at the very least...

I also believe a lot of people have gotten really good at making sure any potential traffic stop they do everything to ensure Law Enforcement sees we are doing things to make sure the stop is safe for them...Dome light at night, hands on the wheel, yes sir/maam, no sir/maam...

We should pat ourselves on the back for making this issue almost a moot point...

Haven't had a single ticket since getting my CHL. Been stopped, uh... more than once.
"Wife Unit" still tries the old method of "tears"...

I told her that I would have handed her a box of Kleenex, as I kept writing...

Shhhhh, nobody tell her that part, K?
