I didn't feel it was good form to post the bidding war among vendors online, but I **DID** private message everyone on the threads up until the deadline I had set.

Hello all

It appears we are beginning to fall apart on the group buy.

Our biggest participant was about half of our mag count, and he has bowed out at the current pricing. No hurt feelings - these things are bound to happen. Several others have voiced their main desire was to obtain the Texas-branded Magpul magazines. Also no hard feelings there.

But, we are down to less than half what our original volume was. We also do not have that many folks in the immediate area surrounding Austin, and consequently there is re-shipping necessary for a number of the folks who are left. And that's from the folks I have actually heard from.

I believe we need to postpone this purchase. I will continue to reach out to Magpul directly, and I will notify the vendor we had tenatively selected. I'm down, but I'm not out at this point. If you're following this, please feel free to PM me.

I'll report back again once I try a few more avenues.

Hi all

Latest is that I have pricing from US Cavalry and LaRue. McBride's also wants to weigh in on the opportunity, but their buyer is out until Monday.

Anyone have a problem waiting until then?

Oh - forgot to mention that Magpul still has not replied, despite four attempts to contact them. Looks like they either don't handle any business that way, or they haven't seen any of my inquiries.

@Scott B. - Got you down for 5 Texas. I will make a note on the FDE. The bulk of the interest I have had so far is mostly Texas, followed by standards, followed by windowed. Then any color requests - so those have been few & far between at this point.

@jmra - agreed on the margin. That's yet another reason to try to source direct from Magpul. They'd still get their wholesale price, so they shouldn't care as much as the retailers would.

Yeah, I am a bit bummed that Magpul has not replied to me yet. I like them a lot as a company - they have great big corporate cojones, as well as great products. I really hope to hear from them, especially since most interest is in the Texas edition mags.

In the meantime, I continue to reach out to other vendors...

I hear you. What's funny is I am getting a much better response from group participants than some of the vendors out there. That makes No Sense (tm)

Smaller vendors would benefit from buying thousands of dollars of inventory and improving their account standing with their distributors. Bigger vendors still benefit from lower cost of fulfilling one order versus a bunch of orders. And if you treat a group right, the whole group comes back for more in the future.

Here's an update:

Botach replied again to me on Friday and only said..."I would suggest taking this deal while supplies last. Our promotions run for a limited time. Please call me next week for further details."

I see very little effort on Botach's part to win our business here. From my own point of view, I really have no interest in buying from them, although I will do so if the overall group membership elects to do that. That said, only Magpul direct has the Texas edition. I have yet to hear from them.

AIM Surplus replied Saturday morning (when they are usually closed, btw) so I do have pricing from them on standard & windowed mags. They get bonus points for speed of reply, and the thorough nature of the info they provided.

I will PM all interested parties the pricing I received from all vendors on Friday, October 10th 6pm CST. Only the winning vendor will have their price posted in the various threads I have going for this.

Still have not heard from Magpul directly, and that's the Texas ones I really want for myself.
