Yea, I have several Fobus holsters too, and they’ve worked fine for me. A couple are over 6 years old and still going…

If you try the bag approach I would be interested in how it works for you. Sometimes when I’m custom baling hay I use a fanny pack to hold my pistol, ammo, wallet, and keys. It works out great. I don't have to worry about droping things while crawling around the baler
Tx Rancher,

I was dove hunting this weekend with a friend here from work and this is the bag he carries:

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE303-19882-1976.html

As cheap as it is I will probably be giving it a try as well. It's big enough for a weapon, spare magazine, wallet, ipod, cell phone, and maybe a few other small items.

Yup. Called today.

I'm sure like others said it's not great, but at least it's free.

I'll be getting another one down the road but after spending $600.00 on the new weapon I want to wait a few weeks. Gotta keep the wife happy.
They are not sending the standard OEM holster. They are sending the paddle style holster. Not much different from the Fobus I was using on my S&W4014.

I just put it in my RH paddle holster and it's pretty secure.
eBay it!

What was wired was all XD weapons come with a Holster, magazine belt clip, and some kind of strange magazine loader.

As it that wasn't enough, Cabela's threw in the pancake style holster and a rail mounted flashlight holder.

Of course both were RH.

So when I called Springfield today the lady I spoke with immediately said no problem she'd get a LH one out to me right away. I asked her which one thinking it would be the OEM one that is given away with all XD's but she said it would be the paddle style. They don't even want EITHER one back. Talk about great customer service.

Now if I could just find a place and time to shoot this bad boy!

No problem.

When I start looking around I'll post any good findings here on the board.

Yes, the XD 45 compact fits in the SP-11 holster. Tension is adjustable by screws...

Some folks like Fobus, some think they're an absolute waste of money. Read some of the posts on the subject and draw your own conclusions.

As Skiprr said, it would be a good idea to forget about the OEM holster. They really aren't very good for carry. It allows way to much movement of the gun on the belt. It's probably ok for those that just use it at the range, but I would not feel comfortable using it for concealed carry...But that's just me. Many folks use clip draw or Mexican carry and do just fine. So it's really a personal preference.

But I think you would find a majority of CHL's wouldn't carry in the OEM holster.

You're right about the XD not being very "compact". I don't carry mine in the summer for that reason. Come winter and I start using more substantial cover garments though and the XD is a viable option for me.

Skiprr wrote:Even if Springfield has a left-handed model to offer, IMHO, I'd look for something else to actually carry. It's nice that they give away the holster in the kit, but it isn't terribly useful.

I have an XD45 Service, not the Compact, but Comp-Tac makes two types of Kydex paddle holsters that will accommodate the Compact. I have (gasp) five of their holsters and think highly of the company and quality. http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=27
Thanks for the reply Skiprr. I'll probably try to track one down.

Holster for the XD-45 Compact

Hello,

Just bought me a new XD-45. While it says "compact" I beg to differ. With the 13+1 magazine in this is a good size weapon.

That said, I am now in need of a holster with it as I am left handed and the included ones are of course RH. I am going to call Springfield tomorrow and see if by chance I can swap out the RH OEM for a LH OEM holster but I'm not going to hold my breath.

My main question is does anyone know if the XD-45 "compact" will fit in the FOBUS SP-11 holster?

If not, any of you all XD 45 owners Left handed as well, and can provide a recommendation on a paddle holster?

Thanks
David
