Exactly. People should be free to buy a meal for someone down on their luck, donate toys to needy families at Christmas, or allow a friend to live in a spare bedroom rent free IF THEY CHOOSE. But its wrong for someone to threaten to stab you if you don't buy them a filet mignon. It's wrong and an insult to Jesus for a family to steal Christmas toys. And it's wrong for the government to use force or threat of force to take your hard earned income to put a roof over somebody else's head.bnc wrote:The issue is not whether people are being helped or left to fend for themselves. You are certainly correct about the need for intestinal fortitude since individual action will be neccessary in order to realize your preferences. Rather than complain that "somebody should do something", it would be up to us to take voluntary action.
