Re: Signed up for a Tough Mudder... Now what about my gun?
I've run Mudder/Spartan races before. The water/mud will make everything stick so your only option is probably the fanny/lumbar pack. Last year I tried to run with a lumbar pack. It was about as uncomfortable as it sounds. Placement on the front interferes with belly crawls and climbing over obstacl...

Re: Activating security alarm at retail stores while carryin
I've had that happen to me before, but it always ended up being a tag I forgot to remove/have the store remove. Off-topic, but when I read the thread title, I thought it was going to be what to do if the alarm went off and the store loss prevention personnel wanted to search you while you were carry...

According to the article in the Houston Chronicle yesterday, the serial number is correct.Dragonfighter wrote:Documentation: Aren't court records mostly public? A comparison between the serials of the auctioned rifle and the evidence inventory should clear up any reasonable doubt.

Re: Man stabbed to death at Houston McDonalds
The deceased was a friend of one of my nephews. He was not there when it happened, but it shook him up pretty good to loose a friend like that. I don't get how McDonald's lost this. That would be like one of us getting shot, stabbed, robbed, or whatever and then suing the business for putting up a ...

Re: Straw purchase and private sales
To me, a straw purchase should be one where you buy a gun for a person that is not legally allowed to own one, such as a felon. That is one instance of why some one might make a straw purchase, but it doesn't matter if the person can legally own the gun or not. I am not a lawyer, but I believe that...

Re: Ruger SR22
I also have an SR9c (NW Houston). I find it very easy to handle with both the 10 rd and 17 rd magazines. Everyone who has tried shooting it has told me that it was very easy to handle and fun to use. They also said that they preferred it over the other firearms they had tried. YMMV

Re: traffic tickets and commercial DL
Pretty sure red light camera tickets don't go on your record since they don't know/can't prove who was driving the car.
The number of days looks like the suspension time so the five month old ticket should still be a concern for the next 2 years and 7 months.

Re: NRA membership upgrade to Endowment.
I don't recall receiving such an offer in the blizzard of their mailings. Is there a phone number to call to ask for it like there was in last year's $300 life offer? A worthy contribution. Thanks. My mailing says the following: THREE WAYS TO RESPOND: 1. Return the enclosed reply 2. Call Toll-Free,...

Re: First gun purchase
The purchase was made at Academy and the lady working the gun counter not only thought it was awesome she didn't have to call it in ... That's different. I thought some folks had said that it was Academy's policy to run the NICS check anyway. Has that changed or am I misremembering that or did she ...
