Re: 9mm Handguns
I also went shooting with my 22 yr old daughter. She was interested in buying a handgun. We went to our local range; they have a rental program where you can shoot all of their handguns for $25.00 as long as you’re buying their ammo. We shot about 8 guns that were the size and caliber she wanted Compact or subcompact 9mm. Sub Compact S&W M&P, Compact Glock 9mm not sub, Compact XD, Sig 250 compact, also shot a 5 inch XDM & M&P pro. We had just finished shooting My Ruger MK1 (I always start ladies with 22s) and My STI Spartan 9mm 1911 with by basic 147gr cheater (IDPA) load, both have great triggers. She didn't like either M&P thought the XDs were OK, hated the sig 250 then as an after thought we shot a Ruger SR9c. That's when she stopped shooting and said I want that one. This was a chance for old Dad to shoot a few guns as well (I had never shot a polymer gun before). I could see some advantages with the M&P & XDM but the triggers would need kits installed. The little ruger surprised me when i shot it the trigger broke a lot quicker than the Glocks,XD,or M&P. The more I shot it the more I liked it. The next week she purchase one maybe she will let me shoot it!
Yes there is a plastic 1911 Rock River is coming out with one both Bul and Kimber marketed on but don’t remember a 9mm version.
