Re: FFL/Class 3 in Austin, TX (78733)
Have stopped doing FFL transfers due to workload, have updated original post. I am still doing NFA transfers, and AK Parts Kit Builds/Saiga Conversions, plus some AR work etc.

Re: Favorite a problem arises Weapons?
Looking at the shortages of ammo right now, and it's not quite TEOTWAWKN, gotta think long and hard about ammo choice when picking such a gun. .22lr suddenly gets attractive since it's cheap to stockpile and easy to transport, and widely available (usually), although perhaps not ideal for defending ...

Re: Saiga 12 Info Needed
Good luck finding them right now at a realistic price - Saiga 12 is on Feisteins ban list, and I've just had one customer pay over $1k for an unconverted Saiga 5.45 rifle (I did the transfer for him, I wasn't the seller). Ones converted by the better known manufacturers like Tromix are highly covete...

Re: Want to learn more about AR rifles.
5.56 and .223 are slightly different - a rifle chambered for 5.56mm can also fire .223, but a rifle marked .223 should not be used with 5.56 (5.56 is a slightly higher pressure round). There is a more detailed explanation here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.56%C3%9745mm_NATO#5.56_mm_NATO_versus_.2...

Re: Want to learn more about AR rifles.
Be warned, it is virtually impossible to own just one AR - they tend to multiply when put in gun safes.MikeStone wrote:Man I love this site...but it's costing me a ton of money...now I want an AR!

I built myself a A2 from a Sarco M16A2 parts kit a while back - without a doubt one of my all time favorite rifles.

Re: AR ideas?
Most of the manufacturers buy their lowers from a limited number of manufacturers (Aero Precision, Mega etc) - they have them made and stamped with their logo. Providing you have an in-spec lower (it is rare to find one that isn't), paying more for a bigger name in most cases means you are paying fo...

Re: PSA Uppers
I've used a couple of them, they are GTG - no issues, good fit/finish. The ones I've used had FN barrels, not sure if all their uppers use them or not.

Re: Daniel Defense M4's are hard to find now...
Black rifles (and parts) are getting harder to source across the board right now - not impossible, just harder. I do a lot of transfers, and saw things start to pick up around Feb, peak in April, then drop off a little around the start of May (a lot were tax refund buys) - most of my customers then ...

Re: Question for you TALL LEAN folks about your concealment
I'm tall and thin, started buying shirts/t-shirts one size bigger than normal, but that still wasn't enough to hide the grip when worn at 3-5 O'clock. For the last year or so I've been AIWB carrying (about 1 O'Clock). Not only is it the only place it conceals well on me, but it is also more comforta...
