Every time this kind of thing happens in Houston, I can't help but recall when three guys circa 1980 walked into the Denny's on I-45 North south of the airport and in broad daylight no less shot and killed seven people inside during a robbery. I had previously "dined" there several times. Makes me want to eat with one finger on a fork and the other on a trigger. I had left Houston by the time of this incident, and for various reasons never returned except to pass through on occasion. The string of restaurant and other shootings in Bayou City a.k.a. The Dome has been voluminous over the years, to say the least. I stay in touch daily via the Chronicle online. Hard to miss the violence. I'm even considering a return, of sorts, to the waters of the San Jacinto River at Humble, since my son is now an attorney practicing downtown. I left a lot of catfish and white perch intact there thirty years ago. Time to upset the balance of nature again.
