Re: Talk me out of selling my Gen 3 21sf...
Yes it happens because the gun used was fired with jacketed rounds and not cleaned correctly before firing lead rounds. If polygonal rifling caused lead induced failures then lots of rifles with much higher chamber pressures in the 1800s(whose barrels were hammer forged with polygonal barrels, just not called that in the day)that had nothing other than lead rounds would have been blowing up left and right. show me a study that shows a NIB Glock that leaded a barrel right out of the box. Any failure due to lead exists between user and interface. That being said if you don't trust using lead, don't use lead. I have never had an issue, but any warning is a Good warning when it comes to firearm safety. I tend to error on the side of safety, even if my post seem to say other wise.

I have shot lead out of Glock, H&K, and many other polygonal rifled barrels. If you clean the copper out of the barrel you will have no problems.

Re: Talk me out of selling my Gen 3 21sf...
If you dont clean out all copper fowling you can, not will, lead your barrel. Its not a Glock thing, it a gun thing. If you own a gun that is damaged by lead I would get rid of it. Lead is softer than steal, I dont see how you can damage unless you lead fowl it and keep shooting, but then that would be your fault.

No I live in North Dallas area, But just go your local gun store they should have them. You are going to pay a bit more, but no shipping costs. Best of luck.CBuchanan wrote:Well thank you. Going to start spending some time in the reloading section and slowly start gathering materials.Richardc wrote:Jacketed run a bit more but still can be cheap to run in your gun. I have never heard that about glock, but you can always make a few and see how they work. Thats the beautiful thing about reloading, you can change you recipe as needed.
One last question. One of the links is to a company selling lead bullets in friendswood. Do you live nearby? I was looking at primer prices and it was $30 something for 1000 and then a $30 hazmat for shipping. If you are near friends wood where can I find these local to avoid hazmat costs?

I have used this stuff for a few years, and I use the loads in competition. They cost me around $0.08 per round, this adds up to $4-$5 a box of 50.
