In my personal experience, it lasts much longer than a week. I did a similar stunt with a .357 mag when I was 19, and as I type this, I still hear the ringing in my right ear. I'm 40.....
Amen to that brother. I didn't need no stinking ear protection. I was stainless steel, bullet proof, and STOOOOPID! To me, the sound of silence is a persistent ringing.
